large ringWhile Eric Sprott was speaking with The Doc this morning, Sprott’s Rick Rule was on CNBC discussing gold, silver, platinum, and palladium in the midst of the latest cartel raid on the metals.

While Rule’s entire interview is a MUST WATCH, the below clip was an absolutely classic response to CNBC’s claims that jewelry recycling will prove to bring massive supplies to the market:

In terms of gold and silver with supply, you have to think about historically mine supplies, but there are no substantial inventories of platinum and palladium. It has gone up a smokestack, it has gone out a tailpipe or been turned into jewelry. If you think your wife’s ring is supply, ask her. You’ll find out it isn’t

When asked which precious metal Rule would recommend owning he responded:  I would own the whole bullion suite.

China Playing a Major Role in Global Silver Market

The latest report from the Silver Institute reveals what most participants of the silver market suspected- China has become the largest physical market for silver in the world.
The report indicates total Chinese silver demand has grown to a whopping 170.7 million ounces annually, from just 70 million ounces a decade ago.
Chinese investment demand for silver reached 17 million ounces in 2011, up from 9.8 million ounces in 2009.
As with China’s gold accumulation, it is likely that China’s unofficial hoarding of silver vastly exceeds the publicly admitted 17 million ounces annually.

Silver Deceptions: Large Surpluses & Low Production Cost

There are two misconceptions about the silver market that are still held by many investors in the precious metals community One is the notion that the world produces large annual silver surpluses and the other is the low cost of mining silver.  Some have argued that the investors have been deceived by certain aspects of the silver industry to believe these two fabrications.

If the silver institute determined the annual silver surplus-deficit the same way as the World Gold Council calculates gold, there would be no so-called huge silver surpluses However, the silver industry and investors have been indoctrinated to believe that silver is just a mere slave to fulfill the demands of its industrial masters.  Institutions, individual investors or the public who have the “need” or “use” to acquire silver as investment — need not apply.
