  • At length of 70' a simple chain saw can be used. Cut them no shorter than 14'. The "semi elite" will spare no expene for cabinets or flooring made of this

  • @Mammoth If those beams are tight grained Douglas Fir, old growth, they are excellent for musical insturments and worth far more than my previous estimate. A cabnit maker will also pay top dollar for them, as will a wood flooring company.............and the list goes on, I would imagine the weight on a single beam being near 800 lbs. each

  • Mammoth - buying online for all my SAE's.  Ebay for 90% when it's a REALLY good deal.   About the only FTF stuff I can find around me is Craigslist and I found that to a real P.I.T.A. (they say they want to sell but then have no desire to meet with you or the want spot and then some) so I've been avoiding it.

  • PMG - I am a big fan of Peace & Morgan silver dollars.  Yes their premium is high for the amount of silver they contain, but they are very desirable among both collectors as well as many stackers. In a SHTF scenario, I believe that a silver dollar will purchase far more than say, four pre-1965 quarters will buy.   How are you buying your silver, have you bought from any private sellers in a face-to-face cash deal?  hat is where I get my best 'bang for the buck.'

  • @ Mammoth   Get those beams, paint or no paint. estimated value $300.00 each   @ PoorMansGold In my opinion Silver dollars sell for way too much over spot, at least around here. In the general market place, Morgans are collected by more people. yet they out number Peace dollars by approx, 3/1

  • 3: .300 Blackout/Whisper a new kid on the block essentially a 7.62x35 round. The interesting bit is that it uses a necked up 5.56 casing and a much larger bullet. The Whisper is a subsonic load for use in a weapon with a silencer. The Blackout is faster than it's Whisper brother and is very close in terms of ballistics to the Russian 7.62x39 AK round. A quick note that the Whisper is also useful for situations where over penetration is a worry. If you plan on confronting a bad guy in your home and he might end up between you a wall and a loved one behind it the whisper will more than likely stop in his body or the wall. The 300 is nifty in that it uses standard AR magazines and with a upper change any AR can fire the round. I own a PWS in the 300 format, love it. It's a way to keep that AR your use to but get a round in it that is a substantial upgrade over the standard AR 5.56 though there's an argument lately about accuracy past 300 yards. I'll cover range issues separately but...

  • @undeRGRönd thanks. I am pretty open minded about most information I come across and try to tie it all together to help with trying to understand the world I live in. I am exceptionally strong minded and can read and see info without involving emotion. I consider myself logical and only take in facts. I reserve the right to change my opinion as new information comes in but currently I have the following image of how the world works in my mind. I believe their are no coincidences in the world and everything has a reason. I try to look for clues left behind by the Powers that be and dont pretend to be anything but a person presenting ideas and theories and not a Nostradamus or Edgar Casey type figure. Personally I don't believe they had any real powers or clairvoyance, but instead connections. Connections to the Occult underground. I personally currently believe Nostradamus had ties to...

  • Sounds as though we have at least one 'closet-carpenter' here.  Well, you are going to sh!t when you hear this:  Here where I work, we have an 80+ year old wood building that is going to be demolished next month.  The structure is built out of Pacific NW old-growth timbers, with fine, tight grain and few knots.  Wonderful wood to salvage! But - due to lead paint and concerns about liability - management has decided that all of these fine timbers are to be cut up and sent to a hazardous waste landfill, at a cost of over $100K!  All over the country they are salvaging wood from old buildings, but here the state & federal laws are so strict, they decided to throw away this irreplaceable lumber.  What a waste. We have 7" x 14" beams that are 70' long, as well as many other stout, shorter timbers.  If I can figure out any possible way to 'pirate' some of this fine old wood without losing my job, I will do so.
