  • To see if someone else posted about it already so I wouldn't be double posting. I'm not polluting the forums.  I didn't threadjack and I'm not thread spamming.  I wrote my own thoughts and included relevant information in my own thread.   How about taking an objective look at your own post and advising yourself not to pollute the forums?

  • How off the mark am I? Or am I?

  • Why I like dimes and quarters,  not many counterfeits showing up yet. The few that are here tend to be key date in a slab coins that I have zero interest in. And a fake dime rings wrong when dropped

  • I'm curious if anybody thinks the fact that mint coins have a face value is a benefit when transporting them across borders?  (eg: Are you transporting more than $10,000 in currency?  Nope, currency value is xxx) I also find the idea that the mint should defend against counterfeiters since it is currency.

  • Xizang, that's why I included the word 'circulated.'  Every single circulated coin has its own unique wear, while the chinese fakes are new. I would not trust any graded coin in an NGC, PCGS or other holder - THESE are being faked in china also.  At least with a loose coin you can weigh it and measure its dimensions.

  • hi KLAMMERN! Welcome to SD. Tons of good advice in here, but I'd just add this:   Don't get too caught up in SELLING Silver, as in move a large amount of stack in hopes of buying more, as the price could jump in the interim. But trading up is a safe deal. It can be done as others here have demonstrated, but be careful!   It would suck to sell maybe $500 worth, only to find it now costs $750 or more to get it back... Not too likely ATM, but we do expect this type of movement in the future.

  • What the hell do I do with it

  • @Mammoth   She does deserve it, thats a fact. I have come up with a plan. Ordinarily I wouldnt discuss this, but I think i hit on a good one. A new bathroom vanity has about 3" of space under the interior of the vanity, I`m going to treat my Dear wife to a new vanity, lay in the stash, screw it to the wall, connect all the plumbing. I think that`s fairly secure. The bath i`m working on is on the basement level.   Of course I`ll be denied the jingling, but I`ll get over it.

  • "Which is the better deal?  One full ounce of pure silver – or only .77 ounce of silver mixed with copper? Gee, don’t take too long thinking on that one." ---------------------------------------------------------- I would be suspicious of fake Mint coins and would have more faith in a circulated silver dollar, but maybe that's just me.

  • Use a core drill to make holes in your wooden bedposts.  Fill the holes using part of your silver stash, and then put a stained wooden plug in the opening.  No burglar would even think of looking there.   And as an added benefit, when you are giving the Missus the nightly pounding she so richly deserves, you will have the pleasure of hearing the happy jingle jingle of your silver!

  • Why?  Are you wanting to pollute our forums by copying and pasting huge blocks of text into them, like you did on the Currency & Silver reference in Captain America: The Winter Soldier  thread?   How about instead writing your own thoughts and just posting a link?

  • Father in law used PVC tubes buried under concrete slab of the patio.  AZ desert sun and sand. They pay there undisturbed for decades.   Junk bullion in bags placed in crawl space over garage, under the nasty itchy pink fiberglass insulation.   Some in the studs behind a medicine chest.    easy to hide, easy to fetch.

  • Bank Safe Deposit Box
    April 13, 2014 05:33 am
  • If they fail then sorry for you. Most banks ended up bankruptcy and and everything in their belongings including all your deposit boxes may also be at risk. I suggest that buy your security protected storage box for your home, at least you are confident that everything important to you is safe beside you, but additionally to that, make sure that you home is secured and protected too, start with security camera and doors with secured lock. Cheers, Hilton James "currently works at http://caldwells.com/interior-doors/closet-doors"..

  • That worked for Muhammed, but that's a different story.   No kids for me either.  About 7 years ago, I had a 25 year old girlfriend.  Cute little blonde with perfect body.   Too much to put up with for the long run.   So keep the kids!
