  • Move away from the standard AR-15 ball rounds and move into soft point or ballistic tip and bump it to 60-70 grains. Penetration improves and tip makes expansion pretty drastic. Vmax rounds literally explode and the fragments will create a 5 inch diameter wound channel

  • Finger off the trigger? Nonsense….

  • Muzzle flash will temporarily take your night vision, but, you have memorized your surroundings, and a good first shot may preclude the nesessity of a second. Should a second shot be nessessary, sound and memory will sufice.  In your own home, you hold the high ground. Use our knowledge to your benifit. Once the shooting starts, aggressiveness on your part, will carry you through. If they are moaning, shoot them again. Merciless, pityless defense wins battles.

  • Keeping the finger off the trigger is the proper procedure at gun ranges.   Keep the finger off the trigger until the range is cleared and your target acquired.   In a life and death, survival, self-defense situation, that is just bullshit that will slow you down and make you dead. Anyone's night vision is adversly affected by bright light - like muzzle flash from your gun or the bad guy's.  So all the more reason to be the first to fire.  Your night vision will suck after the first shot.

  • Much of what you say, is a result of the liberal "We will take care of you" propaganda. Every American IS RESPONSIBLE for thier own defense. In my area, we have Stand Your Ground law is effect.   Are most Americans capable of protecting themselves ?  I think so. put a person under severe pressure, life or death pressure, and they will respond.   There is nothing like a fire fight to get your attention. You become soo focused, that even small to moderate injuries go unnoticed. You see better, hear better. Night vision is becoming a lost art. Modern technology has almost replaced it. As long as the batteries last. I practice night vision every night. To see something in the dark, don`t stare right at it, look a little to the side. A firefight in your home will be a very brief affair.   If I could add one more point, If this occures, and pray to God it dosen`t, and the intruder leaves, do not pursue. You may then become a victim of the police, or nei...

  • At length of 70' a simple chain saw can be used. Cut them no shorter than 14'. The "semi elite" will spare no expene for cabinets or flooring made of this

  • @Mammoth If those beams are tight grained Douglas Fir, old growth, they are excellent for musical insturments and worth far more than my previous estimate. A cabnit maker will also pay top dollar for them, as will a wood flooring company.............and the list goes on, I would imagine the weight on a single beam being near 800 lbs. each

  • Mammoth - buying online for all my SAE's.  Ebay for 90% when it's a REALLY good deal.   About the only FTF stuff I can find around me is Craigslist and I found that to a real P.I.T.A. (they say they want to sell but then have no desire to meet with you or the want spot and then some) so I've been avoiding it.

  • PMG - I am a big fan of Peace & Morgan silver dollars.  Yes their premium is high for the amount of silver they contain, but they are very desirable among both collectors as well as many stackers. In a SHTF scenario, I believe that a silver dollar will purchase far more than say, four pre-1965 quarters will buy.   How are you buying your silver, have you bought from any private sellers in a face-to-face cash deal?  hat is where I get my best 'bang for the buck.'
