*With the horrible tragedy transpiring this week along the East Coast in the wake of Storm of the Century Sandy, and reports of massive shortages of food, gasoline, and basic necessities, we thought it apropos to bring back AGXIIK’s exhaustive prepping manual.  Are you prepared for a collapse of the grid and the banking system, along with the just-in-time delivery system?

Prepping is partly buying a grocery list of items you need to stock, as well as a mind set that moves beyond the physical act of getting supplies in the cupboard. Stocking up is a great place to start. Stocking also buys you invaluable time to assess situations as they crop up while keeping you safe.

Preppers have a situational awareness of what might affect them in unexpected ways and unpredictable directions. Every plan comes unglued when it encounters the real world so having backups to your plan will smooth your way to safety.
Some of those are in this short guide.
Without these plans the alternatives are always less than optimal.

Proceed gradually as you build in this mind set. It takes time, resources and commitment. It does not come naturally because to acknowledge that you are a prepper confronts the reality that things can go from comfortable to the opposite very quickly.

Preparing for the Worst

    • Awesome, but I’ve always wondered about the added safety requirements with such a perfect set up. I mean, if I’m a desperate drifter looking for a haven and come across your property, I’m going all in and it’s you or me. Additionally, I expect to see gangs and militias form in a WROL scenario, so same deal, this kind of property is target 1AAA for these kind of groups.

  1. Thank you for sharing Doc. I am going to download it and have a read through tomorrow.

AG, I am not sure if you mention the use of silver to keep water fresh in your survival guide, but it was common practice in the old days. I wonder if it can be used to purify water as well.
  2. Silver has been used for centuries to purify water.  Silver vessels and containers would keep water purified and safe to drink–both for short term use and long term storage.  Silver coins were put in water storage to keep it fresh for long periods.  Colloidal silver, the modern form of the old fashion silver healing property, consisting of nano silver, can be consumed to help with interior health or used externally as a viral and bacteriostat agent.

The Space Shuttle used ionized silver for water purification as does the International Space Stations. The Russians pioneered that. After testint dozens of purification methods, we settled on the tried and true.  Silver is being used for water purification on smaller municipal scales, replacing chlorine, a chemical we know creates carcinogenic properties when added to water with significant contamination.   Silver ionization is used in high quality water filters, both small and large as well as in bandages, quikclot gauze and sprays that help stave off infection in battle wounds and other injuries.  For milleniums silver was the preferred metal for eating and drinking, not just because of its value as even the common man had access to some silver eating utensils, but because of the leaching of silver into the food and drink.

‘ Born with a silver spoon in his mouth’  is a derogatory statement today but in olden times the silver spoon used to feed babies was shown to reduce infant diseases and infections, reducing infant mortality.  Silver is easily the most miraculous metal in the periodic table and everyone should have some silver in their arsenal of medical protocols.

If you want to have silver readily available in its purest form, the beautiful Canadian Maple Leaf coin is .9999.  If you buy a few of these and keep them at hand, you have the best material for a colloidal silver machine.  That machine can be home made with instructions on the internet   A couple of alligator clips, a few mason jars, some coated wire,  3  nine volt batteries, a little ingenuity and you have best  the old school prepper best infecticide on the planet.

Silver kills over 650 different pathogens in a time when MRSA and other bad bugs have reduced many formerly potent antibiotics,  vaccinations and other medical infection preventatives to little more than scientific curiousities. Studies have shown that  Silver does not create resistance in viruses and bacterium   Use colloidal silver on the bad bugs and they just up and die.  3 silver coins might cost you $100.  The machine set up might cost $20.  Compare that to a month’s supply of antibiotics and the savings are great.

2OZ   Are you up on the technology for the colloidal silver machine?

  3. Rule #1. Don’t sign up to FaceBook or Scribd.

Yes indeed silver is going to become more and more important in medical applications. Beware though, don’t believe everything they want to sell you. You might turn blue LOL like the guy who overdone colloidal silver intake.

Also, what I find potentially interesting is water treatment, since I run a public pool and (worse) a whirlpool. Chlorine is the rule, but it’s a potentially interesting thought, putting Ag+ ions in (supposing they are germkillers as good as Ag metallic in suspension) through electrolysis or some other method.

If it’s too expensive its all YOUR FAULT 😉

  4. Hehe, I know… privoxy and lying. Many other ways as well. I’m past that, too much energy wasted. Too many email addresses. Etc.

Quite a while ago there was this song (on slashdot and others) by “Three trollies in a bag” and they had the answer to the privacy dillemma: “Lie Lie Lie”. Those were the days. Now if we want to really interact lying comes at the price of the very people you’re engaging with never being able to know if you’re legit or not.

Sure our “overlords” did it but it was our own fault as always. Tyranny is like a vampire, it’s there because people invite it in.

  5. Revealed: Hundreds of words to avoid using online if you don’t want the government spying on you (and they include ‘pork’, ‘cloud’ and ‘Mexico’)

Department of Homeland Security forced to release list following freedom of information requestAgency insists it only looks for evidence of genuine threats to the U.S. and not for signs of general dissent

Revealing: A list of keywords used by government analysts to scour the internet for evidence of threats to the U.S. has been released under the Freedom of Information Act

The Department of Homeland Security has been forced to release a list of keywords and phrases it uses to monitor social networking sites and online media for signs of terrorist or other threats against the U.S.

The intriguing the list includes obvious choices such as ‘attack’, ‘Al Qaeda’, ‘terrorism’ and ‘dirty bomb’ alongside dozens of seemingly innocent words like ‘pork’, ‘cloud’, ‘team’ and ‘Mexico’.

Released under a freedom of information request, the information sheds new light on how government analysts are instructed to patrol the internet searching for domestic and external threats.

The words are included in the department’s 2011 Analyst’s Desktop Binder‘ used by workers at their National Operations Center which instructs workers to identify ‘media reports that reflect adversely on DHS and response activities’.

Department chiefs were forced to release the manual following a House hearing over documents obtained through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit which revealed how analysts monitor social networks and media organisations for comments that ‘reflect adversely’ on the government.

However they insisted the practice was aimed not at policing the internet for disparaging remarks about the government and signs of general dissent, but to provide awareness of any potential threats.

  6. ricin3000 True, I personally won’t drink it. I believe silver is a heavy metal and can accumulate in the body leading to extra health problems in addition to the health problems one is trying to address.

I prefer external use. This being written, I will however use applications internally that are officially recognised as being relatively safe and based on silver anti-microbial technology, but only when it is absolutely necessary and/or acquired to do so. Maybe those of you who use Colloidal Silver internally can share your experiences here. It will be much appreciated.
  7. Some what AGXIIK,

It’s relatively easy but somewhat time consuming. Making the CSilver will take about 3 hours +/- the first time you cook it and maybe half that time for every new batch you make.
If you have access to a liquid particle counter, you can tell exactly how many PPM (parts per million) of silver you have made. This isn’t necessary but more accurate than using a laser light.

I’ll provide a website that has an excellent read about CSilver. The main thing to remember when making it is to keep everything sterile, use pure silver (not sterling) and distilled water with glass jars and stainless steel utensils and pots.

The 9 volt batteries you refer to is great for emergency use but a DC volt power supply is better, easier and relatively cheap.

    • Having a DC power supply would be great but an alternative to that might be rechargeable 9v batteries and a solar setup to recharge all of your batteries for flashlights, radios, colloidal silver manufacture, etc.

  8. Oh yeah, as far as the technology, you are basically charging a silver wire with electricity effectively zapping silver particles off of the wire. The main reason for the second silver wire is for the electricity to have a return path to the power supply without which current will not flow. The biggest hing to remember is to use pure silver wire. Silver wire that is not at least .999 (.9999 is better) contains some impurities that can give your skin the “Blue” effect if used daily over a long period of time. This isn’t particularly harmful I guess, but the PaPa Smurf syndrome is not for me.

  9. Bottom line is, I just want clean drinking water for survival not as a health drink and WTSHTF I won’t be spending time looking for Distilled Water. LMAO.

I spent some time last night checking this out and it’s not for me even for it’s external uses.

  10. Vary good Marchas45. Water is easily distilled just by boiling and collecting the steam. As you know, boiling will kill the nasties in the water but it won’t take out heavy metals and some chemicals. A good carbon and chemical filter will do this and they’re readily available at Home Depot and Lowes.

The blue effect comes from making CSilver using less than pure silver wire. If the completed CSilver water has a grey or dark tint, I wouldn’t use. A slightly yellow tint is normal as this indicates the silver nano particles are present. No color is also good, just less PPM silver particles. 6-10 PPM is good.

  11. Wow. What a list. Health, disasters, borders, terrorists, etc. I guess you can’t say anything. With so many words, they can always come back a label you a terrorist I guess and indefinitely detain you. Hmmmmm!

  12. Maybe the best way to deal with the blue meanies is overwhelm them with these words.   If 100,000,000 Americans respond to this DHS data sifted, you could populate the internet with the particular words and make it nearly impossible to investigate everyone.  this is a very large and well armed country.  With our access to instant communication, it would be difficult to sneak up on us.

  13. Hell AG you most likely use 10 of those words in each post. ha ha ha

It’s a good plan though. Like using key words at the bottom of everything one wrights on the net. The same should be done with cell phones to, every time you talk on the phone blurt out a few key words.
  14. 2oz Any vid or photo you right click and a window opens. Then left click copy video ULR or Photo ULR. Then come back to Doc’s Post or a forum. In the tool bar by (post a comment) see the arow sign? left click it it will open up a window. Now right click and past in the little window and click OK it should post if not retry the last steps of the pasting to the post. There is a lot of tools in this tool bar above the post window hold your pointer on the icons and a pop-up will say what it’s for. Doc’s Site needs ULR to post. Jake may explain it better than I he is way better of a righter than me. Maybe go and try a few on a forum page to get the hang of it. If you end up with only a black box in the post window you need to back space it out of there.

  15. Thanks 427, I must have a software error in my system. I’ve tried this but can’t get it to work. I’ll have to look at the programming and change a few things.

    Thaks again
    • That could work but… don’t use pre-1965 US coins that are 90% silver and 10% copper.  Also, you could end up using a LOT of silver in these jugs.  I have a water pitcher / filter that works well to remove the metallic / dirt taste from our tap water and there is a 1/4 oz. 0.999 silver round in the bottom of the pitcher.  This kills bacteria and drastically slows the growth of algae in the pitcher.  Storing the pitcher in a closed cabinet would probably help too but so far we just have it on the counter in the kitchen.

  16. Hi all:
I signed up to Scribd to download the prepping manual BUT Scribd takes to a “pay me” page for a monthly fee.  Maybe I am doing something wrong but…

Anyways is there another way I can download this PDF file?

  17. AGX, DOC, SB, 427, M45,  DF, Silverbugga, 4 OZ. Bull Run, Da Yooper, Jake and many others I’ve failed to mention (Pat, Mammoth, Conax, SRSRocco, Mary B., Ugly Dog and many more). I have shared this AGX PDF with many others. It is wonderful. Add to it, take away that which is not pertinent but be ready. Keep yourselves ready at all times. I have many things to take care of so my posts will be far and few between. Please be ready for all situations. Good luck to all and God Speed.

  18. 2 OZ    Thank you for spreading the word.
On colloidal silver, I used it twice this year. Once for a knee arthro and once for a hip replacement. I drank some to give the antibiotics a boost and externally for topical bacteriostat.  Both surgeries went off without a hitch and my healing process was accelerated.  While I can’t say if colloidal silver was part of this  fast heal process but most certainly there was ZERO site inflection even with a stay in the hospital
In another instance a good friend was disagnosed with a very fast and likely terminal prostate cancer about 25 years ago.  He studied cancer remedies in order to help his cause and discovered a south American doctor who was virtually excommunicated from the AMA for preaching the use of colloidal silver as a cancer ‘cure’  In Brazil TPTB were not so stuffy about these protocols.
My friend  started a regime of CS and after many months and zero reliance on surgery and chemotherapy he was completely free of cancer.  I was very skeptical of this since I had heard of all sorts of alternatives to the radiation and chemo that is the ‘gold’ standard of US Pharma.  He refused to take advantage of these remedies and frankly I was pretty sure I was going to lose a good friend.  With more than a little miracle he is still alive, healthy and cancere-free and celebrated his 66th birthday.  CS to the rescue.  As a disclosure I am not recommending this as a cure.  This is just a success story about CS that I wanted to share.  So preppers, it might be good to have a machine at hand. You never know

  19. Silver also cures depression, did you know that?  The next time you are feeling bummed, just take out part of your stash and look at all the nice, shiny pieces under a magnifying glass.

Presto!  Soon you are not feeling (or looking) blue any longer.  Works like a charm.

  20. Another option is bugging in as part of a small community. Town of 280 I live in will band together with the exception of 2 families who think they should get everything free. They will find themselves outside looking in unfortunately but when it comes down to survival no freeloaders. Even being disabled I can man a guard post, plus I am the electrical/electronic/computer techie/radio operator (ham license) for the group.

    • “…when it comes down to survival no freeloaders.”

Isn’t that the God’s honest truth, Mary.  Supporting those who do not contribute to the survival of the group they are in is a luxury that no person or group in a SHTF / survival situation can afford to indulge.

  21. Silverbadger  I would be the first to apolgize for the length and extent of the list.  Its not even all inclusive but my team and I designed this to act as a pull down list for those who want to add to their stocks, tarting with the basics and building from there. There are some irreducible items such as your Bug out Bag and home supplies.  The BOB will keep you alive if you are in a rough patch so don’t stint.  The rest is a work in progress for people who want to be prepped

    • I agree, AG.  I would WAY rather be over-prepped than under-prepped.  Your prep sheet is an outstanding framework for anyone to use for organizing their prepping.  Not all of it will apply to every single person but I suspect that it isn’t meant to.  It is highly customizable so that everyone can use the parts that will work for them and add new things for their particular situation.

  22. Someone posted a concern about WROL, World without rule of law.  See NJ for that situation evolving now.
The guide only addresses a small part of the Mad Max scenario but it can happen.  If people are left out in the cold for no more that a few days they can turn vicious.desperate quickly.  Marauding gangs will form quickly. Flash mobs are now commonplace.  If you find yourself in an even temporary situation where you are on your own and small gangs are seeking to rob you, that  Band of Brothers, the confederation of like minded people who rally around the neighborhood to defend it, will be your best resource.
Most unrest we see now is as a result of people at the edges.  They usually grow despondent but seldom resort to violence.  A small percentage will.  If you have preplanned for this eventuality then you increase your chances to protect home and hearth.  It is critical to keep OPSEC.  But, and this is important to accept, you should think hard about having a few people who are on the same page as you. They share the mindset and skills to help their fellows in a crisis.
We had that mentality of being on our own 100 years ago.  People rallied to the cause when hard times fell on their community.  They shared what resources they had. If someone was unwilling to get with the program they were shunned or banned.  Those who fell into this situation usually did not survive.  Harsh at it may seem the reality of the situation is that charity begins at home.  Your family comes first and your neighbors close behind.  Those who are on board with this can come together and form a strong barrier; a hard target for the marauders.   If you do it effectively the bad guys will seek a soft target. Maybe their body count will be sufficient to tell them their actions will ultimately fail.

  23. OPSEC is shorthand for Operational Security  It’s the basic secrecy that is needed to keep all your prepper goodies from prying eyes.   Mum’s the word, loose lips sink ships.  The more specific definition is  in the manual
