| Who Knew This Was the Cheapest Place to Buy Silver? |
Doc’s wife took off this morning with his 3 month old headed to the community garage sale with intentions of spending Doc’s hard earned money on worthless trinkets and baby toys.
Imagine his surprise (and delight) when his wife returned with 3.5 ounces of solid sterling silver acquired for a mere $3!
And all this time I thought my wife wasn’t listening when I was ‘educating’ her on silver!
Tipping the scale at slightly over 3.5 ounces, these 3 sterling silver spoons (sterling silver is 92.5% silver) contain roughly 3.25 ounces of silver.
At $35.31/oz, that’s $115 worth of silver for $3. Or put another way, 92 cents/oz silver.
This beats my original silver investment ~ $4.80 in 2001!
You would be surprised at the antique silver that can be found at garage sales, estate sales, etc, AND how few people know that grandma’s old silverware is extremely valuable. The trick is to look for it. Today’s average sheeple wants to get rid of those dirty old heirlooms as fast as possible. Seriously, a dollar? You can’t buy a bag of plastic spoons for a dollar!
Keep your eyes open, you never know when a 92 cents/ounce silver steal is waiting around the corner!
Next time your wife wants to go to the neighborhood garage sale, you might just want to tag along!

wow. score!
i always look for silver at these types of sales
nice work! And even better that she knows what to look for!
You should protect those poor people by telling them not to sell their silver, Doc.
Usually it is always buyer beware. Not the case this time huh! Good loooking out Mrs. Doc!
thanks for the tip! Ill start looking at garage and estate sales!
IMO its better to inform they have something valuable BEFORE making the purchase. The honest and moral way. The Pawn Stars guy does this.
Big diff between Pawn Stars fake show and a local garage sale Anon. nothin imoral about buying somethin you think is worth more..specially when youre paying asking price
I disagree.. their asking price is what they think it is worth. Obviously they dont.. or
they would have taken it to a Gold and Silver shop. There are no 2 definitions of a moral decision.
Glad i am not the only one who sees the downside of this story. the Silver Viral Project is about educating these people because we're all in this together.
all u holier than thous must not have read the article. Doc's wife made this purchase, not the Doc. she was probably excited to bring that silver and show her husband what she found.
Score for Mrs. Doc!
a few cheap ounces or educating another soul? what is the right course of action? should you inform the seller about why silver has value and what this means? or should you just snatch the opportunity to make a quick buck? so much work goes into maintaining this website for free, I say it is clear where the Doc stands.
