What would you do if you knew that the government had tapped all of your phones, was watching everything that you do on the Internet and was keeping a copy of all of your emails?  Well, the truth is that this is essentially exactly what is happening right now.  Over in the UK, a British intelligence agency known as Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) has tapped into the cables that all of our phone calls and all of our Internet activity go through.  All of the information that goes through those cables – phone calls, Internet searches, Facebook activity, emails, etc. – is gathered, recorded and stored by GCHQ.  This information gathering program is referred to as “Tempora”.  It is being reported that GCHQ records 600 million “telephone events” every day.  In addition, GCHQ shares all of the data that it gathers with the NSA.  Reportedly, there are 850,000 people in the United States that have top secret clearance that have access to this data.  Needless to say, nothing that you do on your phone or on the Internet will ever be “private” ever again.

From The Truth Wins:

The Guardian first broke the story about Tempora thanks to information that it received from whistleblower Edward Snowden.  According to the Guardian, Tempora has been operational for about 18 months…

One key innovation has been GCHQ’s ability to tap into and store huge volumes of data drawn from fibre-optic cables for up to 30 days so that it can be sifted and analysed. That operation, codenamed Tempora, has been running for some 18 months.

GCHQ and the NSA are consequently able to access and process vast quantities of communications between entirely innocent people, as well as targeted suspects.

This includes recordings of phone calls, the content of email messages, entries on Facebook and the history of any internet user’s access to websites – all of which is deemed legal, even though the warrant system was supposed to limit interception to a specified range of targets.

The existence of the programme has been disclosed in documents shown to the Guardian by the NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden as part of his attempt to expose what he has called “the largest programme of suspicionless surveillance in human history”.

GCHQ is apparently not very concerned about what happens to all of that data after they turn it over to the NSA.  Their attitude seems to be that the NSA can pretty much do whatever it wants with it

The Americans were given guidelines for its use, but were told in legal briefings by GCHQ lawyers: “We have a light oversight regime compared with the US”.

When it came to judging the necessity and proportionality of what they were allowed to look for, would-be American users were told it was “your call”.

The Guardian understands that a total of 850,000 NSA employees and US private contractors with top secret clearance had access to GCHQ databases.

Are you upset by this?

You should be.

What Tempora basically amounts to is an “all-seeing eye” for the Internet.  The potential for abuse is staggering.  Just imagine what a tyrannical government could do if it knew what every single person was doing on the Internet 24 hours a day.

So far there hasn’t been that much outrage about these revelations in the United States, but in other parts of the world people are absolutely steaming about being permanently spied on by these intelligence agencies.  For example, the following is a brief excerpt from a recent Der Spiegel article

The term, “information superhighway” has always been insufficient to describe the Internet. In reality, the Web is a global communication space containing the private information of a large part of the population of every developed country. If someone were able to train an all-seeing eye onto the Internet, the blackmail potential would be almost limitless.

It is precisely this all-seeing eye that the British intelligence agency Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) and the American National Security Agency (NSA) have developed under the name Tempora. An appropriate real-world metaphor for the program might be something like this: In every room of every house and every apartment, cameras and microphones are installed, every letter is opened and copied, every telephone tapped. Everything that happens is recorded and can be accessed as needed.

It sounds preposterous, but it is frighteningly close to the reality that was unveiled by the Guardian on Friday. Together, the GCHQ and NSA monitor Internet traffic by tapping directly into the data stream sent through fiber-optic cables. They are able to copy and cache this data, to be sifted through later as needed.

It is easy to understand why the rest of the world is so outraged.

After all, how would you feel if you knew that a foreign government was spying on all of your phone calls and recording every single thing that you did on the Internet?

How in the world can we claim that we are an “example” for everyone else on the planet and that we are the great defenders of “liberty” and “freedom” when we are openly admitting that we are going to intercept all of their phone calls and all of their Internet activity and keep all of that data indefinitely?

Right now, the NSA is building the largest data center that the world has ever seen out in Utah.  It is going to have approximately a million square feet of storage space, it will have the capability of storing 5 zettabytes of data, and it is going to cost about 2 billion dollars to construct.  The facility is going to be so massive that it is going to take about 40 million dollars a year just to pay for the energy needed to run the data center.

Every phone call you make, every Internet search you conduct, every Facebook status update you post and every email you write will be held there.

Would you want a foreign government doing that to you?

Are you starting to understand why the rest of the globe is absolutely disgusted by all of this?

For much more on these spying programs, please see my previous article entitled “21 Facts About NSA Snooping That Every American Should Know“.

If the American people do not demand change now that all of this has been publicly revealed, it will be a signal to those that are doing the spying that they can go even farther with their spying because people really don’t care.  And it will be a signal to the rest of the world that we have fully embraced tyranny.

Please stand up and say something about this while you still can.

    • I’m with Uncle MEAT!
They know about everyone, but what they DON’T KNOW is that millions, countless millions
are not aware yet, and will fight for freedom. C’mon! LETS WAKE THEM!!! lol

  1. Many a book has passed before my eyes and while the specifics of the big brother state were always hidden the general understanding was always in plain sight.
We have been and more so, let ourselves to be, led like sheep for the good of the sheppard and to the detriment of ourselves.

  2. On the other hand, the more a government depends on computers, the more susceptible they become to computer viruses.  Will the future belong to the Gov or to the Nanosecond Men?  😉

  3. A funny thing happened on the way to Big Brother.  2/3s of all internet traffic is porn. The other 1/3 is irrelevant drivel—minus this site.
So what happened when Skynet is forced fed porn and drivel 24/7?  What happens when the humint comes into play?
You have a 5 zettabyte data storage system filled with Gar-baggei.  Imagine what the data sifters have to look at to get to something of interest, like Habib planning to blow up some high value target.   Remember what happened when the SEC was spending most of their time looking at porn?  Nothing. Absolutely nothing.  The SEC charged no one with any high crimes or misdemeanors though heaven’s knows there are thousands of brokers and bankers crooked as a dog’s hind leg that deserved some serious charges.  But no, 60,000 porn sites explored on a regular basis.  60,000? I must have missed a few  LOL
My expection is the Skynet will explode in digust over the venality of humanity. The 14,000 people charged with the final data sifting will become so addicted to porn they will end up doing nothing by spending their days spanking the monkey and catching F-all in the way of the bad guys.
So what are they going to do?  Arrest us all.  What happens to job security when all these douchebags got no one left to spy on. Oh boo hoo hoo, oh the humanity.  WGASA!!!
this makes me tempted to a Charlie Youtube video but mine won’t be ole’ carrot top wearing a tam.  More like a advertising poster child from the Columbia School of Protology.  Hey Big Sis—does this look good to you?

    • …now let’s see, what would a poster child for a proctology school look like…
      OH MY!!!
Big Sis might find that appealing, AG, and don her “prosthetic”
Better send it as a picture! You are also aware that I said she
looks like Rex Ryan in DRAG, right?   😀

      You know AGXIIK,
you’re quite right about porn. Back in the days when cell phones were basic and there were no Samsung/HTC/Motorola Androids, or iPhones, or Blackberry Z10’s… the cell phone porn industry alone was making about $3 billion with a “b”.
We live in such wicked days.
Here’s a story you might find interesting related to your post.
A few years ago, one of the original members of Canada’s JTF2 (created in the early 1990’s out of the disbanded Airborne Regiment… akin to SAS and Delta Force), wrote a book about his experiences in the unit. He was a computer and electronics guy by trade and he carried that into JTF2, and being French-Canadian, he wrote his book in French, so it was published in French, but plans to translate it into English never made its way out… Censorship prevented that.
Anyway, apart from writing the book because he was so messed up emotionally from the stuff he’d experienced, as a sort of therapy (apparently more than 50% of the guys in the original group committed suicide out of deep depressions), he ends the book (which I read) in a very VERY interesting way.
At the end of his JTF2 career, he was too stressed out to continue doing operations overseas with the unit, so they posted him to NDHQ (Canadian version of the Pentagon) in Ottawa as a computer specialist there. He thus had access to the computers and networks, intranet etc., and anyway, long story short, he ends the book by saying something along the lines of: “if the public found out what many of the military men at NDHQ look up and possess on their computers and on the internet, they’d be outraged… let’s just say that there’s a reason they gave me a severance package and told me my time in the military was over… I objected too strongly, and if what I discovered became public, a whole lot of people at NDHQ would go to prison because of the sick and messed up illegal stuff they’re into in the computer world…”
No wonder the book never was translated into English. Lots of creeps in the military and government (from someone who worked in the Parliament in Ottawa, I heard that there’s a reason the security guards get very generous Christmas presents from the Members of Parliament every year…. those guards know many secrets…).
May Jesus forgive us and change our hearts!

    • As in all previous iterations of warfare, cunning will overcome massive monetary expenditures.  I fully expect Habib and friends to merely use simple and ever changing code words for each of their operations.  If they do, then NO patterns are created.  They could say, “Aunt Martha has a headache today and won’t be going out tonight” and the person receiving it understands it as “The attack is set for midnight tomorrow”, or some such comment.  Yes, the original statement appears innocuous but the true and undiscovered meaning is not… and trillions of tax-payer dollars spent on fancy data collection and mining will not figure this out.
“Remember what happened when the SEC was spending most of their time looking at porn?  Nothing. Absolutely nothing.”
Those ‘tards at the SEC could not make a case against Bernie Madoff in less than 3 years with the entire thing handed to them on a plate.  Who do they think they are, fooling around like that, the Secret Service on an over-seas assignment???
“…and catching F-all in the way of the bad guys.”
Oh, you mean like the FBI did in Boston, even AFTER being warned by the Russians that the two guys involved had been radicalized?  The supposed purpose of all this spying activity is to catch the bad guys BEFORE they carry out their dastardly plans, right?  So, other than screwed, what are we getting for all this money, loss of rights, and frustration?  Jack all, I would say.
“this makes me tempted to a Charlie Youtube video but mine won’t be ole’ carrot top wearing a tam.  More like a advertising poster child from the Columbia School of Protology.  Hey Big Sis—does this look good to you?”
Careful with that, AG.  They probably already have a-hole recognition software and will be able to track you down from your IRS-held medical records!  :-O

  4. Crikey P 1616 and Glenn.  This is a fine wake up for Sunday morning.  Smart phone and other electronic gadgets are addictive.  So is porn.  Combine those to a 512 qubit quantum computer and we are going to be in serious trouble. I picture a smaller version of that computer embedded in a smart phone, a tiny one that is implanted (mark of the beast) in every person,  tiny as a grain of sand but the computing power a small brother of the qubit 512. It would have the AI equivalent of an average human,  implanted  either at birth or done in order to get a job, medical services (med chips are a reality now) and we are all now androids.  We’d be completely controlled through this electronic implantation.  I call it a Cyber-Neural Interface.
The tiny computer on a chip would be connected to our deepest brain centers with carbon nanotubes. The computer might even self replicate, growing along our nervous system like a virus or be transfered into our children as part of our DNA. Even the fetus, in utero, would start being programmed before birth.   We would be connected 24/7 to Skynet or whatever computer system is set up by DARPA or NSA.  The drones in the government could ‘turn us on’ through what ever pleasure centers they deemed appropos of the reward system set us to control us or  whatever punishment they decided to  mete out.   Get snippy and it’d be ‘code delete’
We’d become cyber units more or less, like the Brave New World’s Greys,Greens and Whites etc.   Thus the Matrix would be complete.  Maybe even to the extent that we would be used to power our own internal electronics while beaming the excess power to Skynet through some sort of beamed Tesla energy system. When you think about it, the Matrix fetoid energy units were pretty messy and clunky for what they were able to produce.
One thing did pop up on the web yesterday.  The NSA et al is signing agreements with Russian regarding sharing of data and ‘other things’.   What worries me about these agreement, plus that flexibility KLUMAC noted to Putin preelection, there’s plenty of open space in the Russian wilderness for  the American equivalent of Zeks.
The Russians are having some extreme demographic problems. Their population is aging and life spans are dropping like a rock due to bad health, poor food and alcoholism.  They don’t have a solid industrial base. Their wealth is in the ground in the form of oil and metals.   They have a birth dearth, leaving them short of labor. It would not take a second of consideration onthe part of either leader to connect the dots that 25,000,000 or so of the restive protestive US population would serve nicely as a ‘reverse coolie-ism’ labor force, digging the minerals from Russian soil. Russia pays the USG for the labor in minerals or oil. It might solve many problems if the Mooch class and anarchists were sent packing for a Soviet holiday, reduce the excess population, solve some national debt issues and give the oligarchs some new toys to play with.  I have a sneaking hunch that POTUS and Putin are cooking up something like an airlift of undesireables from USA sent to the Siberian mines and slave labor camps.  There’s a lot of spare tanker and airplane capacity sitting around.  The way these ghouls think, it would not be outside the realm of possibility.
Now I’ve given myself the willies. Manual labor and me do NOT get along.

    • “Now I’ve given myself the willies.”
Well, GOOD!  Think what you have done to the rest of us with this.  Anyone on here who was not paranoid before sure as he|| is now.  Arrggghhhhhh! 😉

  5. Well now, Glenn, that R2D2 is way not cool.  I’m  just getting up to speed on the new robo-surgeons. I heard that  C3PO can do prostate surgery.  For the prices they are charging, I want a reacharound.
Speaking of that, I’d love to see Gunny Ermey give that Terminator one of his patented ripper tongue lashings.
“All right Pyle, you clinking clanking piece of caligineous junk, I’m going to rip off your CPU and S*** down your carburetor.  Hit the deck and give me 25,000 pushups you cyber crap heap.  I can’t hear you!!!!
Count off, Pyle, you fat body  particle board POS!!!! I’ll make a Cyber Marine out of you if it kills me.
I guess if the soldiers and police get to this level, I’ll need to upgrade my personal carry to a Jesse Ventura Predator I minigun with 3,000 rounds of 5.56  And I’ll be able to carry all 350 pounds of it.  Nah, screw that. I’ll buy me  a Terminator II from DARPA.  I hear they take credit cards.  Only $3,000,000  COD

    • I’m thinking that bullets probably would not work on this guy.  Better be thinking more along the lines of a LAW.  😀

Don’t forget this classic: “I will train you private Pyle! I will train you if it short-dicks every cannibal on the Congo!”. lol

  6. Good one Ed B  I forgot that classic line.  Full Metal Jacket is now a parody of the DI and Vietnam era vets but back then it was the real deal and so was Ermey.
Glenn, I checked the pics.  they remind me of the posters the Egyptians held up when they were protesting Morsi last week.  One dictator or another—not much difference.
I think the people in this country are starting to wake up.  This awakening reminds of the often noted warning CNC Yamamoto said  ‘If you invade America there will be a rifle behind every blade of grass’.  He did not say that but if he did he’d have been accurate.
Now we have an internal enemy, the NSA and all the drones and ghouls behind it.  They will also find a rifle behind every blade of grass.  Rest assured of that.  The hunters in  just 3 northern states outnumber the Army, Navy, Marines and Airforce personnel 10 to 1 in fighting men. 1,800,000 hunters.

  7. If you’re reading this and you work for the govt, go fuck yourself, you are worthless wastes of space sucking on the milk from the titties of PRODUCERS like ME.   Why don’t you expose all the lies and false flags instead of snooping on everyone.   All terrorism and war is STATE SPONSORED AND INSTIGATED.
