FukushimaAccording to an absolutely shocking study that has just been released, one area of the Pacific Ocean floor was 98 percent covered by decomposing sea creatures in July 2012 But in March 2012, only 1 percent of that same section of the Pacific Ocean floor was covered by dead sea creatures.
The scientists that are studying this section of the ocean floor have never seen anything quite like this before.  And when you consider this in conjunction with all of the other reports that have been coming in of sea creatures dying all over the Pacific Ocean, it is only natural to start asking some hard questions.
Could radiation from Fukushima be responsible for all of this death?

From The Truth Wins:

This study has been going on for 24 years, and the scientists that are running this study say that during “the past 2 years” they have seen “the biggest amounts of this detritus by far”.

National Geographic recently published a very interesting article about this study of the Pacific Ocean floor.  The scientists running the study cannot really explain the very strange changes that they have observed since 2011…

In March 2012, less than one percent of the seafloor beneath Station M was covered in dead sea salps. By July 1, more than 98 percent of it was covered in the decomposing organisms, according to the study, published this week in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

The major increase in activity of deep-sea life in 2011 and 2012 weren’t limited to Station M, though: Other ocean-research stations reported similar data.

Although climate change is a leading contender for explaining the major increases in 2011 and 2012, Huffard says that these spikes could be part of a longer-term trend that scientists haven’t yet observed.

Even though they do not have a “scientific explanation” for what is happening, the scientists are admitting that they have never seen a die-off of this magnitude in the 24 years that this study has been going on…

“In the 24 years of this study, the past 2 years have been the biggest amounts of this detritus by far,”  said study leader Christine Huffard, a marine biologist at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute in California.

Could this phenomenon possibly be related to what has been going on at Fukushima?

It should be a fair question to ask.  Especially in light of all of the other sea creature deaths that have been happening all over the Pacific.  The following is a short excerpt from a recent CNN article

“One of my favorite sayings right now is we may be experiencing global weirding,” Jim Covel at the Monterey Bay Aquarium said.

The Pacific recently has seen its fair share of weird. Last year, there was an invasion of Humboldt squid around coastal California and sea lion dying off in worrying numbers. And in recent weeks, disturbingly, sea stars – from Alaska to San Diego are wasting away, literally melting.

So what in the world would cause sea stars to begin “literally melting”?

Once again, scientists do not have an answer.

But clearly, something definitely appears to be significantly affecting life throughout the Pacific Ocean.  In fact, one very experienced Australian adventurer has stated that he felt as though “the ocean itself was dead” as he journeyed from Japan to San Francisco recently…

The next leg of the long voyage was from Osaka to San Francisco and for most of that trip the desolation was tinged with nauseous horror and a degree of fear.

“After we left Japan, it felt as if the ocean itself was dead,” Macfadyen said.

“We hardly saw any living things. We saw one whale, sort of rolling helplessly on the surface with what looked like a big tumour on its head. It was pretty sickening.

“I’ve done a lot of miles on the ocean in my life and I’m used to seeing turtles, dolphins, sharks and big flurries of feeding birds. But this time, for 3000 nautical miles there was nothing alive to be seen.”

In place of the missing life was garbage in astounding volumes.

“Part of it was the aftermath of the tsunami that hit Japan a couple of years ago. The wave came in over the land, picked up an unbelievable load of stuff and carried it out to sea. And it’s still out there, everywhere you look.”

Shouldn’t someone out there be trying to put all of the pieces together and asking if Fukushima could somehow be responsible for all of this?

And this is a crisis that is not going away any time soon.  In fact, it just keeps getting worse.  The Japanese government has estimated that approximately 300 tons of highly radioactive water is pouring into the Pacific Ocean from the destroyed Fukushima nuclear facility every single day, and according to a recent RT article, outdoor radiation levels at Fukushima recently hit a new all-time high…

Outdoor radiation levels have reached their highest at Japan’s Fukushima nuclear plant, warns the operator company.  Radiation found in an area near a steel pipe that connects reactor buildings could kill an exposed person in 20 minutes, local media reported.

So the total amount of radioactive material that has been released into the Pacific Ocean is constantly going up, and considering the fact that some of these radioactive particles have a half-life of about 30 years, all of this nuclear material is going to be sitting in the Pacific for a very, very long time.

And guess what?  Even more highly radioactive water may soon be released into the Pacific Ocean.  The Japanese are running out of places to store the radioactive water that they have been able to capture, and the IAEA is actually recommending that the “storage problem” should be solved by dumping the water into the ocean

In an attempt to solve the storage problem the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) proposed on Wednesday to consider dumping toxic water into the ocean after lowering the level of radioactive materials.

It is almost as if they consider the Pacific Ocean to be a giant trash dumpster.

And the mainstream media has been greatly misleading the public as to the true nature of the disaster at Fukushima.

According to nuclear expert Mycle Schneider, the lead author of the World Nuclear Industry status reports, the rest of the world should be very alarmed by what is happening…

“It is much worse than we have been led to believe, much worse.”

But the mainstream media in the United States really doesn’t talk much about Fukushima anymore.

They seem to believe that it isn’t a crisis worth talking about anymore.

Meanwhile, dangerous radiation levels are being measured all over the country.

NETC, an independent organization that collects and monitors radiation data from locations all over America, recently issued an alert for Austin, Texas and Grand Junction, Colorado…

RADCON 5 Alerts have been reported in both Austin, Texas as well as Grand Junction, Colorado as shared in the screenshots below from the Nuclear Emergency Tracking Center – NETC. Radiation levels are also way above normal background levels in St. George, Utah and Augusta, Georgia.

Posted below is a picture of what the NETC map looked like when those alerts were issued…

NETC December 2013

Over the past couple of years, radiation levels have been abnormally high in the U.S. – especially in the western half of the country.

So why isn’t the mainstream media talking about this?

And is all of this something that we should be deeply concerned about?

  1. Go to http://www.netc.com —  And, when you get there, note the elevated levels and Radcon levels here in the US.   Then, just for giggles and grins, zoom out until you can see the northeast coast of Japan and zoom in on the Tepco plant at Fukishima,  What do you see?
All the RADCON levels ringing the TEPCO site  are all  showing RADCON (1) NORMAL, except for one of them????
Right!!!   More damned LIES from your government??? I need to find out who runs this site.  This BS must be tabulated and massaged by the same OBozo wizards that calculate BLS and Conference Board numbers for the US government!!!!

In fairness, could they be old readings? The underlying map shows the plants still in one piece. So, if it’s a before Fukishima picture, then why are the US RADCONS elevated??? Hmmm,
Here’s a nasty NewsFlash for ya:  http://www.turnerradionetwork.com/news/99-pat Seems that 51 Sailors from the USS Ronald Reagan are now suffering Thyroid Cancer, Leukemia, Brain Tumors and so on, after participating in Fukushima Nuclear Rescue Efforts…

By the way, if you want real information, go to http://radiationnetwork.com This is a site of grassroots people, myself included who host reporting stations around the country and are linked up with the server at this URL. We each have our own radiation monitors.

    • “Huffard says that these spikes could be part of a longer-term trend that scientists haven’t yet observed.”  Before anything can be observed, eyes need to be open.

  2. “Even though they do not have a “scientific explanation” for what is happening, the scientists are admitting that they have never seen a die-off of this magnitude in the 24 years that this study has been going on…
Could this phenomenon possibly be related to what has been going on at Fukushima?”
Yes, it could… and it is ridiculous that we do not know.  This is a critical issue and it should be addressed with enthusiasm.  Radiation levels that are high enough to cause such a “die off” as this article reports as seen in some places can be easily detected if anyone is bothering to look.  Apparently, only a few scientists are even looking at this.  A few grants would likely change this and rather quickly at that.  When trillions of dollars are wasted on various programs of dubious benefit, isn’t it time to spend a few tens of millions on something that could be of world-shaking importance?  One would hope!
I have said before and will say again here, that Fukushima is an unmitigated disaster of epic proportions.  It is interesting to note the differences between the inactions of the government of Japan and actions of the USSR government in regard to the Chernobyl nuclear facility in 1986.  While some disagree with how it was handled by the Russians, at least it WAS handled… and quickly too.  Japan seems a lot more interested in “saving face” than they do with saving lives and eco-systems.  They need to get well past that initial reaction, form an international consortium of scientists, engineers, and nuclear waste remediation experts who can fix this problem with minimal delay.  Funding should be provided such that the right things can be done to reduce the impact of this mess and as soon as possible.  The time for talking and hand-wringing is well past.  Japan takes a large share of its life from the sea but this will end if the ocean becomes so polluted that fish and other marine species cannot thrive there.
One other point worth raising… many articles on Fukushima and other nuclear waste problems continue to mention “radioactive water”. Water is not radioactive and it cannot become radioactive. It CAN be contaminated with radioactive particles, dust, dissolved ions, etc. but the water itself is not radioactive.  Using a sufficient filtering procedure, it is possible to remove almost all of the radioactive contaminants from this water.  The sludge that remains is of MUCH smaller volume so is less of a storage space problem but it is likely to be highly radioactive due to concentration.  The filtered water could then be safely dumped into the ocean… but not before it is checked to see that maximum remediation has been done to it before its release.  I don’t believe that this water is currently filtered at all and it should be.  I hope that I am wrong about this but have not read a single article that notes filtration is occurring.  A minimum of a 3-stage filter process should be done, with a coarse debris filter first, a fine filter second, and an ion exchange resin filter done last.  Done properly, this should remove almost all of the radioactive materials from this waste-water.

Of primary importance in any leakage of toxic waste, of course, is stopping the leak and establishing control of the spilled waste. This does not seem to be happening at the Fukushima plant, with contaminated cooling water being flushed into the ocean with no treatment whatever.  If this entire episode and the weak response we have seen to it is not a crime against humanity, I do not know what would be.

    • @Ed    This fits in all too nicely with the Georgia Guidestone Eugencis agenda for depopulation.  There is absolutely NO WAY you will ever convince me that people in a position to do something about this potential “ELE”  (Extinction Level Event) did not and still do not know precisely what is going on but have chosen simply to assist the ObamaCare death panels in lightening their workloads to less than 30 hours per week and let nature take it’s course.
This is an atrocity unmatched in human history as far as I see it.

    • One thing, Ed…
Don’t forget Heavy Water, which is radioactive. Deuterium and Tritium isotopes in place of normal Hydrogen atoms.
But I do not know if the Hydrogen can pick up a neutron, even if the water is in direct contact with other radioactive
isotopes, such as those found inside the reactor. But particulates in water are usually the culprits… True.

    • Chernobyl was basically right in Russia’s front yard and threatened to spread all over their property. They had a vested interest in taking care of the radiation contamination potential ASAP. Japan, however, can just keep dumping their problem into the Pacific and let “everyone else” worry about it. Unfortunately, with thyroid cases rising to 10x the normal rate, Japan is going to find out that you shouldn’t shit in your own living room.

  3. They know Fukushima is responsible but will not stick their necks out and say it. Everyone in any position of power is instructed to look the other way and to not even come close to throwing a shadow over nuclear energy. It’s just more of the same……..lies, lies and more lies! They know what levels of radiation is in the pacific, and they know it will get worse. They do not want to tell the public this. It’s invisible and difficult to pin down legally, there is always plausible deny-ability with radiation poisoning and illness related to same.

Southern hemisphere is the only escape as this goes forward.

  4. Watching the futures in London all day as I generally do, at the time of BenFucsannouncement Silver was fairly well in a holding pattern. Then went erratic up by at least 28-30 cents and a second later went to -12 then back and forth negative to positive as the stock market was putting on the upside charade. Really dumbed down BS, now this evening down 44 cents an ounce and the stock futures Dow, Nas and S&P all negative tonight and 10 year bond yield up. Really makes a lot of sense, unless someone here can make sense and explain.

    • Many of us were on SD’s chat while the FOMC stuff happened today… for the most part, the markets spasmed slightly at the instant the announcment was made and for about a few minutes after, only to settle back to almost exactly where they were before the announcement… save for the Dow which ended up almost 200 points… then… right on schedule as the pits were closing… the typical metals SLAMDOWN…  the FOMC meant nothing… it was just the usual monkey-hammering of the metals… and here at 6AM NY, we’re down again overnight….. SSDD!!!   Nothing unusual to see here, move along now…..
So, it ain’t the FOMC that drives metals price eh?  Heh heh, tell us something we DON’T know….  <sigh>

Sounds like you haven’t even read that groovy article.
Had you read it, you’d have seen that it is the Ayatollahs who call for genocide of Jews, and that the Iranian-Israeli intelligence operatives in this article dream of the day when they can peacefully live in Iran as goodwill ambassadors of Israel.

  6. Ranger  It’s like the UST 10 yr, the equities and precious metal prices are treading water, or maybe more specifically, trying to find solid footing.  UST is 2.9%  PMs down 2.5%
Fukishima may be the defining event of this era of MOPE, POMO and price rigging.  It’s like the theological debates such as How Many Angels can Dance on the Head of a Pin while the world gets a radioactive colonic.  Chernobyl was contained, covered with concrete, seeing great loss of life and a huge dead zone.  Mammoth knows more about this than me but a friend of our family was near Chernobyl and her thyroid is a wreck.  She lives in the US and has suffered for decades due to her exposure to Chernobyl when it blew in 1986.

Nothing has been done of any substantive nature to curtail the radioactivity that has flowed into the ocean and air.  Japan could become a dead nation in 5-10 years.  For an island nation with a reverence for the sea, feeding its people from the sea, this has to be a hugely emotional issue.  People are wearing dosimeters and checking their food for radiation.  There’s a cloak of secrecy dropped around Fukushima. The Japanese people are being deceived.  So is anyone on land touching the Pacific Ocean   There is not a day that goes by that I don’t check into this disaster. We live on the west coast so this concerns us

  7. Oh Boy…’beneath Station M was….’ Just where the hell is station M? No one says, oddly.’ Something stinks here, true science would never be so vague.  Fact: Salps are gelatinous organism that on occasion susceptible to mass die offs. Not saying it is all well out there in the Pacific as the result of Fukushima, as that is a real mess. For some reason looks here to be a great deal of hysteria being stirred up with very poor displayed evidence in this article.. No mention of the bazillion underwater volcanos that cause similar events….all to convenient here, just like when everone pushed ‘panic eject’ and jumped onto global warming, the sky is falling syndrome. And, am aware of that ‘adventurous Australian’ cited in the article above, think rabid environmentalist.  I know I step in the way of a herd here stampeding to ‘get out of the way, we’re heading for the exits,’ but geeze all this panic over such very vague wordings in this article….Feel free to skewer me over hot coals all ya’ like with this being said…..

  8. @BigTom
The are two issues here… first.  WHAT HAPPENED? As in ‘FACTS Please!!”  On a scientific level the answers are tough enough to find.
The second problem is probably of greater significance.  We are not getting the truth and learning of the reality of this fiasco.  Instead, the media and govco have decided we need to know nothing.  We have come to the point where we can so clearly not trust our media or government information sources for anything.  And, without reliable and good information sources, we are in greater danger than we would be if we were simply told the truth.
Both issues may be ELE’s  (Extinction Level Events)  One because of environmental causes and the other due to political causes.  They are on an equivalent footing as to the seriousness of their consequences.
Whatever the real causes of the die-offs in the sea, I do really think someone knows what the real story is and we just aren’t being told the truth.. in fact, we aren’t being told ANYTHING… and that concerns me more because it suggests an intention to deceive…  which begs the question — WHY?   Is it possible they know how dangerous this is and this danger serves a purpose far more sinister and dangerous to us all than a mere scientific occurrence…

  9. Is there a hole in my arse?
Of course this is Fukushima. The MSM blackout on this is insulting and scary.
This is getting worse and we don’t know how bad it will get.
I’m very much wondering if you are right @Sovereign Economist.
I need to dig deeper and read more.

  10. Remember how the Ukraine handled Chernobyl, man they were all over it.They handled it like the true disaster that it was! The media was all over it too. With Fukushima that’s all changed. Tepco and the Japanese government are moving in slow motion. They act like  this is no big deal at all. The media covers up for them. Other governments aren’t doing or saying anything about this either. It’s surreal. That NGO even tried to put the blame for the die off on global warming.

    • It’s all about the nuclear power industry and the “power” it has to silence any criticism. They want to build more and more of these plants, not less and less. Hell, they won’t even decommission them after 40 years, and 30 years is their “suggested” lifespan. I find it obscene that for our power needs of today, we are willing to poison the planet for millennia.
      “Breathe deep the gathering gloom”

  11. Those sea creatures are a warning of what’ll happen to all of us if we don’t undertake proper detoxification protocols. Start detoxing soon, or you may be sick, weak and dying by the time the silver moonshot happens, as we approach the mining near extinction event in the next 7-15 years. There are many good detox methods known: bentonite clay; diatomaceous earth; activated charcoal; zeolite; sodium chlorite, activated to produce chlorine dioxide; chlorella; DMSO; chelation therapy, and some others.

Given the severity of this situation, which will not change during our entire lifetime, I suggest undertaking as many of the aforementioned protocols as possible, until the day you die. The most important one in the entire group is DMSO. It’s an extremely potent detoxifier that can do what the others can’t do-pass through the blood brain barrier, and bind with these heavy metals. I’ve been drinking .75 oz/day, 4 times/week, mixed with lemon/lime to drown out the horrendous taste.
