This is how strongmen take over countries…

Submitted by Michael Krieger, Liberty Blitzkrieg:

In effect, he believes that he is running to be the CEO of the country — not just of the government but of the entire country. In this capacity, he believes that he will make deals with other countries that cause the U.S. to come out on top, whatever that could mean. He conjures up visions of himself or one of his associates sitting across the table from some Indian or Chinese leader and making wild demands that they will buy such and such amount of product else “we” won’t buy their product.

What’s distinct about Trumpism, and the tradition of thought it represents, is that it is non-leftist in its cultural and political outlook and yet still totalitarian in the sense that it seeks total control of society and economy and places no limits on state power. The left has long waged war on bourgeois institutions like family, church, and property. In contrast, right fascism has made its peace with all three. It (very wisely) seeks political strategies that call on the organic matter of the social structure and inspire masses of people to rally around the nation as a personified ideal in history, under the leadership of a great and highly accomplished man.

Trump believes himself to be that man.

He sounds fresh, exciting, even thrilling, like a man with a plan and a complete disregard for the existing establishment and all its weakness and corruption. This is how strongmen take over countries. They say some true things, boldly, and conjure up visions of national greatness under their leadership. They’ve got the flags, the music, the hype, the hysteria, the resources, and they work to extract that thing in many people that seeks heroes and momentous struggles in which they can prove their greatness.

– From Jeffrey Tucker’s brilliant article: Trumpism: The Ideology

If you want to support Donald Trump go right ahead. Just be honest with yourself about who and what you are really supporting.

Angering the corrupt and incompetent status quo with hateful commentary demonizing minorities does not make you a lover of freedom and liberty. Indeed, as Jeffrey Tucker so accurately noted earlier this year, Trump isn’t about restoring America’s heritage. He’s about “Making America Great Again.”

So what does that mean exactly? If you listen to him, it’s pretty straight forward. “Making America Great Again” means putting someone “great” in charge of America, and Trump thinks he has discovered such greatness in himself. It has nothing to do with going back to what actually made America great for a couple of centuries, which is America’s founding principles. No, such talk is for egghead intellectuals who won’t defend America from the barbarian hordes stampeding at our doorstep. Trump, on the other hand, promises to protect you like that powerful billionaire daddy you never had. Some sacrifices will need to be made of course, such as the outdated and increasingly irrelevant Bill of Rights, but they’re kind of gone anyway, right?

If you support Trump, you are consciously or unconsciously turning your back on everything that actually did make American great. He will be no different than George W. Bush, Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton when it comes to the U.S. Constitution. He loathes it for the same reason they did and do; it restrains their dictatorial abilities as President. The only difference, is that Trump will convince his supporters to ignore that inconvenient truth, because as he destroys civil liberties with one hand, he will use his increased power to abuse helpless minorities with the other. The “red meat” that he will throw to his supporters will consist of going after the weakest and most vulnerable segments of the U.S. population (Mexicans, Muslims), while leaving the rich and powerful elite criminals untouched (Wall Street, the military-industrial complex). As I noted yesterday on Twitter:

If you still don’t get how anti-Constitution and disdainful of liberty Donald Trump truly is, let’s take a look a portion from one of his speeches yesterday.

“We’re losing a lot of people because of the Internet. We have to see Bill Gates and a lot of different people who really understand what’s happening and maybe, in some ways, closing that Internet up in some ways. Somebody will say, ‘Oh, freedom of speech, freedom of speech.’ These are foolish people, we have a lot of foolish people. We’ve got to maybe do something with the Internet because they’re recruiting by the thousands, they’re leaving our country, and then when they come back, we take them back.”

It’s also important to see how the man delivers these words. Watch the clip below:

He is downright dismissive of free of speech and calls First Amendment defenders “foolish people.” He is clearly troubled by the notion that free speech could come in the way of King Trump’s vision for “Making America Great,” and there’s nothing more anti-American than that.

This, of course, is not to say that any of the other leading candidates are better. For example, Hillary Clinton was just heard saying the following:

“We’re going to have to have more support from our friends in the technology world to deny online space. Just as we have to destroy [ISIS’s] would-be caliphate, we have to deny them online space. And this is complicated. You’re going to hear all of the usual complaints, you know, freedom of speech, et cetera. But if we truly are in a war against terrorism and we are truly looking for ways to shut off their funding, shut off the flow of foreign fighters, then we’ve got to shut off their means of communicating. It’s more complicated with some of what they do on encrypted apps, and I’m well aware of that, and that requires even more thinking about how to do it.”

Now take a watch:

So there you have it. We now know, without a shadow of a doubt, that two of the leading candidates for the Presidency of these United States are actively lobbying against freedom of speech and for a crackdown on the Internet. If we as Americans lose free speech, it’s 100% game over.

The obvious point here is that Trump is no different than Hillary when it comes to civil liberties and the Constitution. He is a great showman, and he is putting on a wonderful spectacle for the plebs so as to make them think he finally represents a real choice. But there is no choice. Every candidate running for President this century has been an authoritarian with fascist tendencies. Trump’s no different, he’s just a much better salesperson. And he’s not selling you America, or American principles. He’s selling you himself as strongman.

  1. Maybe I can wrap this up succinctly

It is my belief that the vast majority of politicians are self serving sociopaths with plenty of psychopaths embedded within their ranks.  They will say or do ANYTHING, take massive campaign contributions from anyone, any corporation, any  bank any source, that helps them buy their way to higher office.

They will promise anything to get to their goal.  They will immediately compromise their character, promises, morals and ethics once ensconced in office, turning any way that helps them to achieve their power goal seeking.

I am quite convinced that no politician can be trusted with power and that creates a problem because somewhere along the line a country this complex needs a leadership cadre.  But most people of sound mind and body are repelled by the notion of even running for political office much less doing something with it.

This leaves a small cohort of people will to do and say thing to fill this gap.  These people, a scant 3-5% of the population, could also be defined by their various psycho pathologies because just the act of seeking higher office defines them, just as a person who views kiddie porn is inclined to molest children or a thief who, when he finds a wallet in the street, is inclined to take the money rather than return it to its source. The same can be said for the politician who accepts campaign contributions from a soiled source. That cash is return only of the connection to the source is disclosed. Otherwise it’s found money, as good a legitimate funds.

The higher the office the more money must be raised, well in excess of $1 billion per viable candidate for the presidency. The more the money needed the more the promises to big money must be made, the more the soul must be mortgaged in pursuit of the office and the more likely this person is to resort to truly heinous actions in that pursuit as well as once the office is attained. Most presidents natures are revealed by how they kill innocent people at home and abroad. Drones are now the preferred method. In past years it was B2 bombers and cruise missiles. Buy killing innocents is still the direct result of the little man in the oval office who decides who lives and dies.

Some might say top offices like the presidency are a noble goal; going into service to that country, a man killing job etc etc.  The actual fact is that this person usually find him or herself a marginalized leader, trapped in a box of his own making, built by those who control him and allowed a certain amount of power so that he can vent his pathologies on the common man and woman, like a criminal who is given conjugal visits and then sent back to stir. The complexities of the country cannot be handled by one person not matter how clearly defined are their goals, usually couched in noble sounding promises that we’ve heard 100 times before. Most of the heavy lifting is farmed out to those power seekers who want to curry favor with their boss and carve out their own base of pathological goal seeking.

The current crop of candidates, both Republican and Democrat,  share 95% of the common goals and hard edge ambitions of the power hungry elites.  There is nothing left for the people or their needs. If they receive any boon from this oligarchy of one and some it’s an accidental hand-me-down that falls from the plates of the overlords.

The problems facing this country ranging from its tax structure, demands from the military, banking sector, crony corporatists, chattering classes full of insatiable greivance-based yearnings, national debt, enemies abroad created by the elite band of psychopaths, are pretty insurmountable.

Given the TRUE nature of all the candidates, a nature that can be discerned with little more than 30 minutes of viewing and research, shows those candidates aspiring to the presidency share 100% of  the pathologies commonplace to  truly dangerous, murderous criminals, any one of which can be found in a few chapters of the DSM V Manual.  Trump and Clinton embody these traits in a more visible form beause every word that issues from their mouths can easily be translated to damage to the common man or woman. This visibility is maybe the only slight differentiation between them and the rest of the candidates running for President.  I serious doubt that any one of the people on the podium will make any difference except to make things worst.

IMO the only difference between Trump and Clinton is one has the XX gene and one has the XY gene.  Other than that they are both dangerous to anything and anyone who gets within the range of an ICBM

  2. I’d take the Donald over that corrupt criminal bitch Hitlery Clinton any day. He wants business back in America, unlike the Democrips that have systematically dismembered American industry and sent it overseas. At least the Donald wants to reindustrialize America and put Americans back to work. I don’t trust either mainstream party candidates other than Trump. I’m hoping he follows through with all the promises. If he does, it’ll be a great new day.

  3. G&E   Now that’s succinct!  Trump’s billionaire status means he’s already gone through the money mill on his way to billionaire status. Of course those 4 bankruptcies are just part of business. Nothing to see here, move along

Maybe he’ll get AMTRAK to run on time

  4. How about this.  One has trigger time in Bengazi and the other doesn’t.  What do you want?  Trump has no trigger time.  Anyway I like Clinton.  I just wish people would leave that poor lady alone after everything that she’s been through philandering husband and all.  Trump would say anything to get into office.  Once he gets there he’ll forget all about what he promised you. I’ve seen this before.  Am I irritating anybody yet?  Good because they both suck.
