Since I get rolls, 1 or 2 at a time, perhaps I am not qualified to answer your questions. But I will say that I have yet to find a silver coin in a roll which I’ve gone through. Noticed that nearly all of the older-dated nickles (1940′s & 1950′s) are gone, and even nickles from the 1960′s are becoming scarce now.
Roll searches of pennies turn up between 5 and 10 pre-1982 pennies per roll.
@Mammoth Oh. Still, even if you only get 5 to 10 pre-1982 pennies per roll, at you’re getting some pennies. But my question is, do you need a bank account to get coins from the bank in the US or which bank companies should I chose in order to avoid a bank account?
@Sumkid, even if you walk into any bank in the US just to ask someone what time it is – they will probably require you to first have an account with them. Case in point – when we were going through the adoption process a few years back, we needed to find a notary to stamp off some paperwork. We went into a local bank and they would not notarize the forms because we did not have an account with them, even after we explained this was for the prupose of adopting and providing a loving home f0r a disabled child!
This was one of the experiences which really opened up my eyes to wha banks are really all about.

If you don't know, open the roll, look for the one or two coins with a full silver band - that's your jackpot coin. Much faster than checking dates. "Reply To: Questions about coin roll hunting in the US
