I am seriously looking at taking the Front Site courses – have any of you taken their courses and if so what did you honestly think?
This will be MAJOR outlay of cash for me (which is exceptionally tight right now) so really want idea of whether worth it (or not)…I appreciate ALL feedback – good, bad & ugly! If you don’t want your opinion/experience on public forum please contact me and we’ll email privately. BIG decision and need help with it.
Newbie 1 I am a Diamond member with Alaskan privileges. In April 2011 I took their 4 Day defensive handgun class. It was quite good and I came away with many new skills and refined others. Later that year I took their 4 rifle course and it was also a good course. I learned more about handling rifles in 4 days than the prior 40 years. In 2012 I took their 2 day open hand and 2 day edged weapons courses. These were fun but I did the final bit of damage to my hip and knee, with a subsequent knee rebuild and hip replacement. This was not due to the course, just the end result of 10 years of extreme weight lifting.
I plan to take their 4 day shotgun course this year if time allows. Several of my friends go regularly for refresher course but due to a one day drive and the cost of staying in Parumph plus the scarcity of pistol and rifle ammo, I may back off a bit and do skill building in my local northern Nevada area.
If you want to converse on this, ask Doc for my real world email and we can discuss more. My Diamnd membership cost me about $4,000 a few years ago and that included two handguns and some Frong site gear but nowadays the prices for the course are way lower.
What are you paying for a 4 day course and membership
I bought 16 Diamond menbership packs a couple of years ago and got 4 firearms for that promotional plan. I’ve sold off 12 or 13 of them to friends in the local area.
Hmmm – haven’t seen anything on a home course yet – did just join their Patriots newsletters though and they apparently do monthly specials on it. I’d love to take each of their 4 day courses (handgun, shotgun, rifle) and then maybe follow/refer to home study for practice…? Now just have to find the funds and the time (time is a biggy when you’re on farm with various livestock by self) to go to Vegas! lol
I’ve figured out ways to meet my other goals – now I’ll have to get working on this one : )
" Just don't click!
I am happy to see ads as sometimes they show me things i do actually want (a debit accout that refunds all atm fees for example). If you don't like it don't click it. Pharmacy must not pay as good as advertising! "Reply To: Selling 'paper' on SD?? Really? Rant.
" I agree, SAE's are the best form of silver to hold but they are expensive. The OP was asking about thoughts for a limited budget.
I would also suggest that you're not going to be trading silver or gold with the average Joe if something goes wrong, as the average Joe is going to be a... "Reply To: Limited Budget.
" This is just my opinion
I no longer hold or buy any generic rounds or bars. I use to, it`s pretty much all that was available in quantity, back in the day. I`m not trying to agitate anyone, but all I buy and hold is U.S. Minted items. I have traded all my generic stuff for ASE`s and ... "Reply To: Limited Budget.
" Funny, I have the same issues; this site is a big pig. Locks up Firefox with some tables in the background for about 10 seconds on initial load. I have to use IE to have an almost decent experience. "Reply To: Leaving the Site – Data Vampire
" Hi Starlifter and welcome!
I'm like you, limited budget for PM's. No gold in my holdings but my silver is coming along decently. I get whatever I can, be it an ounce or 5 (I don't go larger than 5 oz bars). One thing I do to really stretch my silver budget is 90% coins. Get a dim... "Reply To: Limited Budget.
Yes, I know getting on the DOW now would be suicide that's why I'm keeping it in cash only. I figure if the DOW comes down a few thousand points again (very possible in my opinion) then I may take some of that cash and reallocate to make a few more bucks on the, hopefully, way back up... "Reply To: No choice paper/diversify or get out all together.
