I am seriously looking at taking the Front Site courses – have any of you taken their courses and if so what did you honestly think?
This will be MAJOR outlay of cash for me (which is exceptionally tight right now) so really want idea of whether worth it (or not)…I appreciate ALL feedback – good, bad & ugly! If you don’t want your opinion/experience on public forum please contact me and we’ll email privately. BIG decision and need help with it.
Newbie 1 I am a Diamond member with Alaskan privileges. In April 2011 I took their 4 Day defensive handgun class. It was quite good and I came away with many new skills and refined others. Later that year I took their 4 rifle course and it was also a good course. I learned more about handling rifles in 4 days than the prior 40 years. In 2012 I took their 2 day open hand and 2 day edged weapons courses. These were fun but I did the final bit of damage to my hip and knee, with a subsequent knee rebuild and hip replacement. This was not due to the course, just the end result of 10 years of extreme weight lifting.
I plan to take their 4 day shotgun course this year if time allows. Several of my friends go regularly for refresher course but due to a one day drive and the cost of staying in Parumph plus the scarcity of pistol and rifle ammo, I may back off a bit and do skill building in my local northern Nevada area.
If you want to converse on this, ask Doc for my real world email and we can discuss more. My Diamnd membership cost me about $4,000 a few years ago and that included two handguns and some Frong site gear but nowadays the prices for the course are way lower.
What are you paying for a 4 day course and membership
I bought 16 Diamond menbership packs a couple of years ago and got 4 firearms for that promotional plan. I’ve sold off 12 or 13 of them to friends in the local area.
Hmmm – haven’t seen anything on a home course yet – did just join their Patriots newsletters though and they apparently do monthly specials on it. I’d love to take each of their 4 day courses (handgun, shotgun, rifle) and then maybe follow/refer to home study for practice…? Now just have to find the funds and the time (time is a biggy when you’re on farm with various livestock by self) to go to Vegas! lol
I’ve figured out ways to meet my other goals – now I’ll have to get working on this one : )
" @Xizang: Oop, forgot what to recommend. I would recommend these very panels we've been discussing. The Eco-Worthy 150 watt mono crystalline panel for 140$ from their website. http://www.eco-worthy.com/catalog/130w-150w-so... "Reply To: FANTASIC DEAL***** 150W SOLAR PANEL
" @Mary_B: I found Solar Boulevard, com . The do indeed have good deal for poly crystalline panels. A 140 watt is 154$ for 1 panel or 144$ if one buys a 2 panels bundle, not bad. Eco-Worthy does have a slightly better price of 140$ for a 150 Watt mono crystalline, a saving of 14$ and 10 extra wat... "Reply To: FANTASIC DEAL***** 150W SOLAR PANEL
" From what you guys know, are there any you would especially recommend for heavy use outdoors, in LOTS of water? I'm asking because I am around large boats, marinas, and an environment where there is not only water from the skies, but sea water splashing up big time. Live aboard boaters are al... " Okay anything I add a link to is not showing as part of the discussion, Solar Boulevard has the 140 watt panels I use. I have 16 of them and the company that produces them is US based(some panels come from china but are built to better specs). I use these, little higher in price but a USA manufacturer who also has a plant in China so it likely is chinese made but to a higher specification http://www.solarblvd.com/Solar-Panels-&-Systems-12-Volt-Solar-Panels/c1_269/p271... " www.solarblvd.com has reasonably priced smaller panels. And the company that builds/imports them is US based for warranty issues http://www.solarblvd.com/Solar-Panels-&-Systems-12-Volt-Solar-Panels/c1_269/p2668/Solar-Cynergy-140-Watt-12-Volt-Solar-Panel/product_info.html are the panels I use.... " @Xizang: They all do pretty well and are rated for about 25 years. A typical 12v panel doesn't really produce 12 volts. They run at about 20 volts, the watts/amps are a little higher too. They do this knowing that they nee... "Reply To: FANTASIC DEAL***** 150W SOLAR PANEL
" I married a gal who had a cabin deep in the mountains of Colorado. Her previous husband had set up a shed/well house/battery room with solar panels on the roof. " RRG I see the benefits
We have no outside ground to place panels. We have 2 balconies and live at 7000 ft, 310 sunny says a year even in winter so the panels would be space limited as we are in a mountainside condo complex But 400-600 watts is decent charging a set of deep cycle batte...
