Hoping you can give me personal opinions on ‘how best to build my stack’. I’m on limitted budget and wanting to stack phyzz in ‘smartest’ way possible.
1) Would you buy Maples – or would you buy the wildlife series if very little difference retail wise (under dollar)?
2) would you buy either of the above 1oz coins (approx.35$) or would you buy the more limited fine .9999 coins the mint puts out in hopes that collector value goes up and you can resell higher (ex. coin that’s 1/4oz that sells for $40 but is limitted production #’s)…. and in turn as you resell these – you put the money into maples/more standard coins?
Realize this is likely another whole discussion – but do you feel there is ‘time’ (before crash etc) for the limitted mint coins to go up in value enough to change out for larger quantity of standard 1oz? Or is this a risky option?
3) so far safest/cheapest sources I’m finding are the SD & SilverGoldBull sites and local coin shops. A LOT of bullion sites won’t ship to Canada and alot of the ebay lots that sell cheaper won’t ship anywhere but US (why they sell for less – less audience to bid – JMO) and/or the shipping can be a deal breaker…. any ideas where to buy that are SAFE and cost effective?
Any ideas, opinions etc MUCH appreciated – I have a couple coins (D&D, Trivium Proof) that I want for myself (and a gift or two) not to resell, but other then those – I’m looking strictly ‘how to build stack in most economical manner’….
Where do non-official rounds/wafers/bars fit into your stack/plan?
I guess question is – will they be recognized for what they are? If you watched the uTube of guy (Mark?) trying to give away the 1oz Maple, if people are truly that clueless as to value of an official coin (even if from other country) will anyone recognize a sunshine bar or trivium round in SHTF type situation?
Any concerns of this?
What % of a persons stack do you recommend be in the less expensive no-name silver (sorry not sure of proper name for them)?
Thanks Mary! Since you replied I’ve been busy on eBay and have gotten a few small lots of old dimes/quarters (1920-1966 is 80% here), been able to snag them at spot or below (including shipping) but most going above spot and well above when you add in s&h.
So just keeping watching and buying little bits here/there, trying to buy mostly from Canada as it saves on shipping and a lot of US sellers list US as only country in ‘ship to’ section. Have stopped at local coin shop a couple times – sold out so not much luck there either, but at least they know I’m interested. THANKS : )
Must watch out for free transport in addition to element transport into the total value of the stack. Buy the dips to be able to balance out transport, hold out until finally you can purchase a larger total reduce the actual every transport etc.
" Thanks, APMEX and Provident are the only two I've dealt with online. Similar to you my experiences with both were great. I like APMEX for some of the more unique coins that they offer. Generally Provident is best for prices on regular stuff. "Reply To: Pawn Shop
" Bought some ASE's from JM Bullion and they were Scary s l o w. And I am talking months, not weeks for the order to arrive.
They do not post a phone number on their website so that you can call them if you need to.
Provident - bought from them and they are o.k. in my book.

" Yeah, hit JM last month. Took FOREVER to finally receive the metal. I'm talking a few weeks; unacceptable. This was metal they said they had in stock. Provident is out of my 5 oz'rs today; bummer. Probably have to check SD or Gns'ville. "Reply To: Pawn Shop
" JM Bullion is also very good with prices, i have read a few negative reviews so wouldn't necessarily endorse them, but have read some ok reviews too... maybe check them out as well. "Reply To: Pawn Shop
Thanks for the link. No, I have not bought from SD. About a month ago I attempted to and found the price/shipping higher than Provident. I actually found Provident after pricing SD. Provident was very fast and easy to deal with. Heck, even checking during this post thei... "Reply To: Pawn Shop
" Thanks Mikey for the reminder of the coming meteor shower.
With an abundance of clear, starry skies here in the dry Pacific NW, there are sure to be plenty of viewing opportunities.

" PMG have you bought from SD Bullion? I have purchased from them twice, with no problems. Just received a 'junk' order and with shipping included, the price came to 16.5 x Face. Before buying from them I checked around, and SD Bullion had the best price I could find. And although I have never ... "Reply To: Pawn Shop
" Good info. I quit my local pawn guy because he jacked up his prices way way high. I'll have to check in at EoQ to see what I can get.
Re ebay. I've been doing quite well. My LCS sells 90% at 20x face (at least). Then I have to pay tax, my time there and fuel. Usually I can fi... "Reply To: Pawn Shop
" yeah, i read that the first time you typed it. it's just now we're going to go through it same time as the geminids... lots of 'told you so' coming whether it is actually warranted or not. "Reply To: COMET ISON – OCT 7
