With great persistence and a little encouragement from GATA our friend R.B. in Britain has more or less solved the mystery of the Financial Times’ quick deletion from its Internet site of its February 24 report about gold market manipulation, “Fears Over Gold Price Rigging Put Investors on Alert; German and UK Regulators Investigate.”
The explanation is pretty much what one might expect: For the Financial Times, one of the many news organizations to which GATA repeatedly has provided its full documentation of gold price suppression by Western central banks – the issue is simply too “sensitive.”

The report has been preserved at GATA’s Internet site here –

http://www.gata.org/node/13681

– and at Zero Hedge’s here:

The explanation is pretty much what one might expect: For the Financial Times, one of the many news organizations to which GATA repeatedly has provided its full documentation of gold price suppression by Western central banks –

– the issue is simply too “sensitive.”

In fairness to the FT, please note that the issue seems to have been too “sensitive” for all those other news organizations as well.

R.B.’s account of his repeated inquiries to the Financial Times is appended.

In February an informative article headlined “Gold Price Rigging Fears Put Investors on Alert” by Madison Marriage appeared in the Financial Times’ print edition and was posted on the newspaper’s Internet site. Within hours it was removed from the FT’s Internet site without explanation.

A message that replaced the article on the FT’s Internet site invited readers to contact the newspaper’s Customer Services department with any queries, so I telephoned the newspaper to ask why the story had been removed.

I was told by the help desk that the story had been withdrawn by the editorial team for a reason that was not yet known.

So that I might get an explanation when one was available, I e-mailed my question to the help desk four times in the next nine weeks, from February 27 to April 30, after which I finally received an e-mail reply stating that my query had been assigned a case number and that the help desk would attempt to respond within 24 hours.

As I still received no response, over the next 11 weeks I sent additional e-mails, which were forwarded to the editorial team and finally to its senior management.

My persistence for nearly five months was then partly rewarded when I was told by the Customer Services office in a telephone call that the article had been withdrawn from the FT’s Internet site because its subject was “a sensitive matter” but that the editorial team could provide no further details.

  1. People like Marshall Swing tell us that TPTB are like gods and they can do whatever they want with impunity.

I take the other side of the bet, that in fact TPTB are weak and dying and rely on smoke and mirrors for their power. I do not fear them and I am long mining shares.

    Best of luck to all.

    • Nice to see the Kudos to Chris Powell. That man is an unrecognized, relentless, giant in the goldnews world, and has been it it longer than anyone, -cept of course maybe Ted Butler.
Too sensitive. A news outlet worried about sensitivity. Please hurry up and fade into irrelevance already…
This isn’t Sean Kelly, broker from Vancouver is it?

  2. “the issue is simply too “sensitive.””

Perhaps they should be asked, “For whom is this “too sensitive”?  They make it seem as if someone will have their itty bitty feelings hurt if this information is published.  If so, GOOD, says I.

In one respect, however, this IS pretty funny… and that is the thought that a “news” organization is refusing to print the documented truth in order not to offend someone.  Perhaps they should consider that refusing to spread the truth is also pretty offensive to many of us?

Agree 100% about them fading into irrelevance.  A lot of the so-called MSM is doing that and it is looking really good on them.

  3. As it has been throughout history, the dominant ‘power’ erects it’s own ‘temples’ and deities over the ruins of the ‘conquered’.

Government credit-paper is the ‘god’ of today’s Caesars and Khans alike. So, they erect their Central Bank ‘temples’ in all countries, demanding that their Peoples genuflect in solemn adoration to it. And, blasphemy is always severely punished, don’t you know.

Make no mistake, China and Russia too have Central Banks in accord with their particular sacred 5th Plank … “Centralization of credit in the hands of the state, by means of a national bank with State capital and an exclusive monopoly.”

If there’s a ‘one true god’ of all Peoples, it’s the Natural Order and Balance of Nature’s God. Making God’s ‘money’ of copper, silver and gold ‘The Way’ of peace and harmony among all Peoples … NOT … the man made false idol of government’s contrived ‘eminence’.

    Paper Rots, Coin Does Not.

    • There most certainly is a GOD of all peoples { bar none }, but the image we have allowed creation to give us of Him, causes our soul to wander in a wilderness after this image, it is this image which becomes our adversary !

  4. Seeing more and more stories of information being suppressed, facebook has deleted links to 2 articles I posted about gun control and the armed elite as an example.  Twitter has been suspending accounts of conservatives to keep them from speaking, articles that are posted on other sites mysteriously disappear and the persons account on that web site gets deleted. Censorship is the only way they can keep us from deciding it is time to do an armed march on DC and change things ourselves.
